Assam University

Assam University is a teaching-cum-affiliating Central University. The history of Assam University is the history of people's struggle in Barak Valley. The "Saheed Minar" situated near the entrance of the university commemorates the history of Bengali language movement of this valley. The university has sixteen schools which offer Social Sciences, Humanities, Languages, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Information Sciences, Technology and Management Studies. There are 35 departments under these sixteen schools. The five districts under the jurisdiction of Assam University have 56 undergraduate colleges.
