As a matter of fact Kalihati college was established in 1979 with a view to giving the light of higher education to the people of Kalihati and its neighbouring areas. It is the only college which stands in the heart of the upazila. The grand dreams of the grand dreamers behind the inception of this academic institution were to help the students to receive higher education coming from their dwelling places to enrich this backward area with economic strength and to kindle the flame of modern thoughts and contemplations. Rising from a hamble position, the college now stands on the eastern side of Tangail-Mymensingh grand Road. This institution of ours holds ten acres of grounds where trees, plants, gardens and lake-sized ponds present bewitching charm and matchless beauty. Here, the practice of social consciousness is performed. The presentation of posters and placards is not allowed here and there. These are to be placed on a special board supplied by the college authority. Activities disturbing the calm and quiet atmosphere of classes are discouraged during class hours. The festive annual Milad Mahfil, Yearly sports are the tradition and special attractions. Its main objective is to present men having human values, competence and the current of free thinking. The joint service rendered by the teachers former and existing, the honourable members of the Governing Body, the employers related to the office, the elite of the society has led the college gradually to have the present shape. Above all, behind the establishment of this college there lies a great effort to materialize the dream and desire of Mr. Shajahan Siraj, honourable founder.
