One of the major issues contributing to poverty is the lack of access to education for underprivileged communities. Many underprivileged children ages 3-5 are left in unsafe environments while parents leave for work. These children do not acquire the adequate skills to start primary education at the age of 5. Even for those who make it, the dropout rate of primary school children is extremely high.
According to the World Bank, early childhood development programs benefit disadvantaged families more by reducing dropout rates, improving cognitive development and school achievement, and reducing social inequality.
In addition, studies conducted by the US-based National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER) show that early childhood program increases educational attainment later in school and decreases economic and educational inequality.

In order to break the cycle of poverty in the future, it is essential for these children to have access to programs that can enhance their physical and emotional wellbeing, and establish a safe environment to develop strong cognitive skills so that they are prepared to start primary education.

To provide access to education for these underprivileged children,OSW offers the following services:

• Pre-school programs for children ages 3-5 (GHASFUL SCHOOL )
• After-school tutorial support for children ages 6-14

কেন "ঘাসফুল ইশকুল"শিক্ষা কর্মসূচী :

আমরা জানি দারিদ্রতা বাংলাদেশের জন্য খুবই পরিচিত একটা শব্দ । আর এই দারিদ্রতার সাথে লড়াই করতে গিয়ে একটি অনগ্রসর পরিবারের বাবা মার সাথে তাদের ১০ বছরের শিশুটিকেও কাজে যেতে হচ্ছে । এ শিশুটির মতই,যে সময় বাচ্চাদের স্কুলে পড়ার কথা ওই সময় কাজ করছে বাংলাদেশের দারিদ্রতায় আক্রান্ত প্রায় ৯০% শিশু । যদি বাংলাদেশ থেকে দারিদ্রতা দূর করতে চাই তাহলে শিক্ষা ছাড়া বিকল্প কোন রাস্তা নাই । কারন শিক্ষার হার যত বাড়বে, দারিদ্রতার হার র বর্তমান কাজ হচ্ছে মিরপুর-১১তালতলা বস্তি থেকে কাজ শুরু করা । মোট ২০ জন সুবিধাবঞ্ছিত শিশুদের শিক্ষা দানের পাশাপাশি ,চিকিৎসার সেবার মাধ্যমে তাদের হাতেই তাদের বস্তিকে উন্নত করে তোলা ।এই বস্তিতে ৪৫০ টি ঘর রয়েছে যেখানে বসবাস করে ২২৫০ জন ।আমরা মাএ ২০ জন শিশু কে শিক্ষার আওতায় আনতে পারছি আমাদের সীমাবদ্ভতার কারনে আপনারা যদি আমাদের পাশে এগিয়ে আসেন এ সংখ্যা বাড়ান সম্ভব শুধু দরকার আপনাদের সহোযোগীতা...

তাই আমরা এরকম সুবিধা বঞ্চিত কর্মজীবি শিশুদের মাঝে শিক্ষার আলো ছড়িয়ে দিতে কর্মজীবি শিশু শিক্ষা কার্যক্রম শুরু করতে যাচ্ছে। আপনারা এগিয়ে আসতে পারেন আমাদের সাথে....
