History :
In 1846 it starts as a English Medium school called 'Hardinge School' in Mr.
F.B.Camp's house who is the deputy collector of East India company and nearby area .In 3rd
November of 1853 it was started as a full english medium school near 'kachari' (present
Laboratory school).The main & present school structures was built in 1912.It was called
"multilateral pilot school" in the time of 1st DC of Mymensingh S.M.A Kajmi by government.In
1965 the school compound was designed & reformed by amerian science teacher
Mr.Dril. Mymensingh Zilla School was used as army camp by British base in 2nd world war and
also as Training camp for freedom fighters in our war of liberation in 1971.More than 40
students gave their life when fighting against pakistani army that time.

* Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose, Famous scientist and inventor of radio simultaneously with
Guglielmo Marconi but separately.
* Anandamohan Bose, founder of Anandamohan College, Mymensingh, the first Indian
Wrangler (a student who has completed the third year of the Mathematical Tripos with first-class
honours) of the Cambridge University and the president of Indian national congress.
*Bhai Girish Chandra Sen was a religious scholar and translator who made the first creditable
and full translation of the Holy Quran into Bengali.

Mymensingh Zilla school is undoubtedly the best school in Greater Mymensingh.The students of Mymensingh Zilla School shows their extra ordinary performances in every sector for the time being.

This school is a boy's school and, since 1990s, it has two shifts -morning and day. The morning shift starts at 7.30 am and day shifts starts at 12.00 noon. Though it is a boy's school, it has both male and female teachers. This school has one headmaster but it has separate group of teachers for morning and day shifts. This school has a big playground, a big pond, three large buildings, one hall room and one dormitory. A mosque is also located next to the playground where most of the Muslim students and teachers take their Juhr prayers. This school has the facility for study from third grade to tenth grade. Every year student are admitted in third grade and sixth grade of this school. Moreover, in each grade, there are two sections, namely, Section A and Section B. It is one of the oldest school which has the highest quality of education in the supervision of highly experienced and skilled teachers. Besides, the academic fee of this government school is quite low.
