At 2.11 million tons, milk production in Bangladesh in 2002 was relatively low, and Bangladesh has to import around 250,000 tons of milk equivalent annually to satisfy national milk demand. Most of the demand are being met from import of dry milk from the international market. At present, daily per capita milk consumption less than 60ml. We are spending 10 billion Taka per annum for importing milk powder from abroad. We have severe constraint of high yield breed, quality feed and veterinary service. But we have suitable environment for cattle. So we need to take the chance to reduce importing dry milk. That's the reason of forming Pioneer Dairy Farm.
