Bangladesh Insulator & Sanataryware Factory Ltd. - BISF

Bangladesh Insulator & Sanitaryware Factory Ltd. was established with foreign technical collaboration and is in production since April, 1981. It is a government owned industrial enterprise and was setup as an important substitute industry with an aim to achieve self reliance. The factory is located in about 30 Acres of land at Mirpur area of Dhaka City and is adjacent to the National Zoo. Its total manpower is about 800 peoples.

The factory is equipped with the latest ceramic technology and modern machineries & equipments to produce quality sanitarywares of various design, colour and sizes of international standard. BISF wares are made of non-crazing, non-porous high density vitreous China.

The products are excellent, durable and reliable. The factory is the first of its kind in the country. Installed production capacity of the factory was 4,000 MT of Sanitaryware and 1200 MT of Insulator. Prago-Invest Czechoslovakia provided a turnkey project for the establishment of the plant. The revised production capacity is 3400 MT of Sanitaryware, 1400 MT of Insulator and 500 MT of Refractory items.

BISF produces Pin Insulators, Suspension Insulators, Line Post Insulators, Bushing, Spool Insulators, Shackle Insulators, Strain Insulators, Support Insulators up to 33 kv etc. BISF produces different types of insulator as per ANSI, BS standards. The plant has got the modern testing facilities for insulators. Routine tests are strictly performed in high voltage testing section. BISF supplies different types of insulators to different power generation and distribution companies like PDB, DESA, DESCO, REB and manufacturers of equipment for power distribution and generation like GEC, GEM Plant etc.

Chemical Porcelain (Such as acid proof porcelain bricks, porcelain intalox saddle, porcelain pall ring, porcelain raschig ring, porcelain cross partition ring and ceramic balls etc.) are used in chemical process equipments specially in lining and packing. These products are completely vitrified, also through modern tunnel kiln at a high temperature and have no water absorption and also have excellent mechanical strength.

BISF also manufactures acid proof bricks and refractory bricks of different sizes and shapes up to SK – 37. These products are of international quality and standard in respect of chemical composition and physical properties.
