Philanthropist RANADAPRASAD SAHA established the institution for the education for girls in the name of his grandmother Bharateswari Devi. Some of the important objectives of the institution are the development of girls as ideal citizens, promote a sense of responsibility and morality in them, and secure a firm place for them in the community through the development of their various skills. The institution is committed to creating a healthy social environment based on respect for the individual and the culture of sacrifice the interest of individuals for the benefit of the community.
Ranada Prasad realized the importance of education as a basis for the development and believed that no society can prosper if women members who stayed behind and deprived of education.He believed that men and women should have equal rights to be able to live self-reliantly. The institution gives equal emphasis on improving education, moral and physical. Before taking meals, students seek the blessings of God and say, "we are indebted to you and we pray, no one ought to starve."
Bharateswari homes the girls school is the first residential development in the region. Introduced higher secondary education (HSC) in 1962. However, the HSC section closed in 1973. It was reintroduced in 1983. In 2012, B Homes had about 1,000 students and 50 teachers.
Apart from regular studies, students at the school take active part in cultural activities particularly in the physical training. The institution is nationally known for the unique physical training offered to its students. Each year Bharateswari Homes parties invited by the government to conduct in the celebrations of national days and important national festivals in Dhaka.
