"Mostofa Sarwar Farooki could be the next South-east Asian filmmaker to break out”, The Hollywood Reporter wrote in the review of his film Television.

Variety’s Jay Weissberg wrote. “Mostofa Sarwar Farooki is a key exemplar of Bangladeshi new wave cinema
movement”. He is a contemporary Bangladeshi film director and screenwriter.

He is also the pioneer of an avant-garde filmmakers’ movement called "Chabial".

This group of young aspiring filmmakers used local cable television networks as a platform to master their hands in story telling and created an audience for the stories they tell. It created a huge audience for them- from urban audience to semi-urban.

Mostly the young audience appreciates their films since they can relate to the films because of real life stories and a naturalistic
approach.

Mostofa sarwar farooki is a contemporary Bangladeshi film director and screen writer.

He is also the pioneer of an avant-garde film makers movement called "Chabial". This young group of filmmakers are primarily crafting the art in video. And they have already created a big number of young audience to appreciate their films made in video.

Farooki's body of work addresses such themes as middle class angst, urban youth romance, frustration about own culture and conservative Muslim concepts of guilt and redemption. He is widely considered to be one of the most brilliant and influential movie maker of Bangladesh. He, along with his fellow filmmakers from Chabial, has created a new genre of Bangladeshi films which are completely different from traditional theatrical melodrama. Before Farooki, the use of everyday colloquial language in films was considered by many directors as rude. His films usually have documentary like attitude, concentrating daily chores of life.
