Confucius Institute at North South University is aligned with Yunnan University of the Government of the People's Republic of China that aims to promote Chinese language and culture, support local Chinese teaching and cultural exchange.

North South University is pioneer among the universities of South East Asian countries to establish Confucius Institute in the region. Backed by Hanban, North South University (NSU) signed an agreement with Yunnan University (YU) of Kunming, China to establish Confucius Institute at NSU.

In view of the growing importance of the People’s Republic of China in all areas of World Politics and World trade and commerce, it has become imperative that we know more about Chinese culture and civilization. It is known that language is the most important tool of communication for mankind and also the key carrier of cultures. The dissemination of language and exchange of cultures enhances understanding and friendship among countries.

Importance of learning Chinese language:
i) To foster stronger trade relationships with China
ii) To avail job opportunities and higher technical education in China, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam & many other South East Asian countries
iii) To know the mother tongue of the largest number of speakers
iv) To have access to one of the major UN languages
v) Chinese language skills will enable you to pass the HSK Test (Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language) and get into the universities of China.
