More about Daffodil International University Department of Textile Engineering

Garments and Textile are considered as the thrust sectors in Bangladesh. By exporting quality goods, Bangladesh has already been turned into a major supplier. Considering the competitive, open, International market around the world, Bangladesh has paid a great deal of emphasis upon this sector. Alongside the government, quality endeavours from different private levels have been contributing to step our country further. Extensive growth in textile industry has created a lot of job opportunities for skilled manpower. And to fill up the demand of skilled manpower with quality products, Daffodil International University (DIU) has launched the Department of Textile Engineering (TE).

TE combines the principles of engineering with specific knowledge of textile equipment and processes. This subject deals with the application of scientific and engineering principles to the design and control of all aspects of fiber, textile, and apparel processes, products, and machinery. It encompasses different areas of engineering such as mechanical, electrical, computer, chemical, instrumentation, electronic and structural engineering. Textile Engineering is less creative and more strictly a scientific career. It probes deeply into the chemical structure and properties of fabrics and the fibers from which they are made. A textile engineer works with textile materials: fibers, yarns, fabrics, and finishes. Most textile engineers work on product research and development, either improving current textile based products or creating new products. They may also be involved with finding uses for new fibers, yarns, fabrics, or textile finishes. The TE curriculum of DIU includes other engineering disciplines such as mechanical, chemical, materials and industrial engineering, as well as fundamental courses such as thermodynamics, materials science, industrial management, applied mechanics, and engineering drawing and design. Emphasis is also given on textile chemical technology, fiber science technology, technical textile and computer application in textile.
