Lakkatura international cricket stadiam - sylhet official

Sylhet International Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium in Sylhet, Bangladesh. It is currently used mostly for cricket matches. This stadium is being expanded to host some matches of 2014 ICC World Twenty20.

The stadium was built in the year 2007. England under 19 cricket team, England A team, Nepal under 19 team came to play there.

The stadium recently got funding from the government of Bangladesh to increase its seating capacity and make major improvements on the field, and installation of floodlights. The renovation is supposed to begun in 2013 and will finish before 2014, after the construction the stadium will qualify as an international standard stadium. The stadium after construction will be leased by the BPL’s local franchise Sylhet Royals to use it as the home field for the team. This is the first international stadium of Bangladesh which is surrounded by mountains.

Sylhet is one of the most beautiful part of South Asia. It is well known for it's natural beauties and peace loving people. It is one of the largest metro cities in Bangladesh. It's hills and mountains are used to grow Tea and Oranges. Sylheti tea are exported in Asia and Europe too. Bangladesh government also get the biggest amount of foreign revenue from the sylheti people live in Europe, specially in London and America.It is also known for it's tourism reputation worldwide. It was always a demand of sylheti people to have an international cricket stadium in their own city. Finally Bangladesh government decided to built a stadium in sylhet for the 2014 world T20 in Bangladesh.
