More about Muragachha Government College

Muragachha Govt. College established on the 7th day of April, 2015, is publishing its first annual bulletin in 2016. An infant in the field of academics, the college, as thought by many would crawl has actually started to walk in its second year of progress. The several committees and sub-committees are working simultaneously to ensure that the days are not far when walking will inevitably leads to running.

It will always remain an incomplete proposition if we the staff members (both academic and non-teaching staff) do not show our heartfelt gratitude towards the working members of Muragachha High School and not to mention the local people without whom the college would not have been what it is today.

PROLOGUE

Muragachha Government College, founded on the seventh day of April, 2015, has stepped into its second year of progress with a proper vision of illuminating the mass with the rays of knowledge and culture. Though a budding institution, the college has already made a mark in the field of art and culture and services rendered to the society with the help of the Cultural Committee and the NSS unit of the college.

The college building is surrounded by lush greenery. Muragachha is well connected by both the railways and roadways. Muragachha is the nearest railway station from the college. It falls under the Lalgola – Sealdah section. Apart from Muragachha there is Lakshipur, located on the other side of the Bhagirathi – Hooghly River. Lakshipur comes under the Howrah – Katwa subdivision.

The full-time professors of the college are appointed by the Government of West-Bengal with the aid of West Bengal Public Service commission under the West Bengal Educational Service according to the norms prescribed by the University Grants Commission. The teachers are transferred to different government colleges as per the rules of the W.B.E.S. The Government of West-Bengal also appoints the non-teaching staff of the college. Superannuated teachers are also assigned to undertake teaching responsibilities on part-time basis based on the eligibility criteria at par with full time teachers against the existing available posts.

The Higher Education Department headed by the Director of Public Instruction and principal secretary controls the administration of the college and frames all the policies and functional modalities of the college meant for the principal to execute. District Magistrate is the head of the governing body.

The college thrives on grants received from the Government of West Bengal and the University Grants Commission. The seminar room has been developed which augments the procedure of inter-active seminar between teachers and the delegates in the seminar proceedings. Guest faculties from various colleges and universities are also invited for the development of the students. The library is always under the process of further development and its soul aim is to create an academic environment. The college has already opened its canteen both for the students and the faculty members of various departments. The untiring zeal of the Department of Bengali has resulted in the publication of the Wall Magazine of our college on the auspicious occasion of bhasa dibos. The College Magazine is ready to see the light of the day with the able support of the students.

The teaching and the non-teaching staffs of the college are working in unison and are striving for the development of an all-round excellence of the college. It is expected that the students must abide by the rules and regulations of the college and it is only through the combined efforts of all the people associated with the college both directly and indirectly that newer heights of academic excellence can be attained. Students will come and go but the college will remain, if not eternally, as the symbol that shaped their future and has exhibited as a proper guiding force in the life of the students.
