North Bengal Medical College, Sirajganj, Bangladesh

North Bengal Medical College has been estabilished in the year 2000 as per permission of the Government of People`s Republic of Bangladesh. The college is situated in a beautiful location on the bank of River Jamuna covering an area of 10 bighas of land in the district town of Sirajganj. The campus has a special scenic beauty with lush green trees and meadows interspersed by newly constructed modern buildings and old heritage buildings.

The founder of this medical college, Professor Dr. M. A. Matin was a well-khown personality in our country. Besides being a very senior medical teacher in his profession, he has already estabilished a number of Eye and Mother Child Hospitals in different parts of the country as a social worker. He has estabilished two Girls High Schools in the district of Sirajganj. He was associated with a number of rural development projects which strive to improve a lot of the common men living in the rural areas of Bangladesh. He was alos the founder of Sirajganj Diabetic Shomity and Bangladesh National Society for the Blind (BNSB) in Sirajganj. The three hospitals and the BNSB Hospital,Sirajganj which will be used for training and teaching of the students of NBMC has been estabilished by Professor M.A.Matin and his collegues in the 15 member Governing Body of the college.

Considering the poor medicare facilities available especially in the Northern part of Bangladesh, Professor M.A.Matin has embarked upon this prestigious projects of estabilishing a medical college and the attached hospitals. Besides regular faculty members in different departments, quite a sizeable number of eminent medical educationists both in clinical and basic sciences departments have expressed their desire to be associated with the teaching and training programmes of the students. They will also render health care services to the patients coming to the hospitals,associated with the college.
