Our Lady of Fatima Girls' High School

To remove the darkness of knowledge, especially of the women population, from Comilla on Monday 8th January, 1950 Sr. Merry Leo Established OLF School.

Present Comilla town was a part of Tripura State which stands on the bank of Gomuti River. After the separation from Tripura it was named Kamalanka which was named Comilla afterwards.

Comilla is now District Town and OLF Situated very close to the center of the town .

Lots of foreign Nun and Priests left their relatives and home and came to the South East area of the globe to spread the light of Education. They served inlots of convent school and medical places.

From far away United States of America Father, Brother and Sisters came to this area for preach of Christ. By encourage of this work Sr. Merry Leo Cavel M.S.C. came to Bombay through Indonesia and Karachi to be a Nun. On 14th April, 1947 she came to Dhaka. For the interest of preach she came to Tejgaon, Dhaka to learn Bangla Language.

Sr. Joan of ark, Sr. Merry Theca, Sr. Lords, Sr. Alaycious, Sr. Pascal, Mrs Juliana Purification and many more teachers served this school.

OLF is organized in two divisions, Primary and High School, to ensure proper education basement for child and help them to grow within special design culture with socio environmental responsibility to build them good personnel.
OLF is recognized and accredited by The Our Lady of Fatima Girls' High School, was established on 1950. From the beginning the school was known as missionary school as it is established and managed by Christian missionaries. OLF serves the best education on their domain. The school is managed by management committee.

Curriculum: The curriculum is holistic and inquiry-based in nature. Students are expected to be active participants in their own learning, and are given opportunities and assistance to do so. The school programs over the three divisions are structured to enable students to integrate into any English-speaking school system in the future. The high school provides a college preparatory program following an NCTB curriculum model with all instruction in both Bengali and English. Courses and standards prepare students for entry into English speaking colleges and universities. The teaching philosophy and educational materials used in the school is developed by special trained teachers.

Placement Policy: Children are placed primarily by age, and the cut-off date is 31st December. However, due consideration is also given to previous school records, results of a developmental screening for our PK-KG students and written examination and personal interview for older students, emotional and physical maturity and achievement level. The Primary School (KG - Grade 5) takes children from 4+ to 10 years, the High School (Grades 6 - 10) from 11 to 15 years.

There are airy, well lighted and spacious 20 classrooms in two modern buildings. The school has 1 rich library, 1 computer laboratory, 1 science laboratory, a teachers’ room, an office room and a Headmistress room. About 1200 students and 25 teachers are in the school now.


Location: The school is located at the middle of Comilla town in Bangladesh.

School Year: The school year of 365 days are divided into three terms. The first term begins in January and ends in mid April and the second term begins in mid April ends in early August. And Final term begins in September and ends in the last week of November.

Results: The results of S.S.C. and Scholarship Examinations are very good. The students secure 100% pass from 1990 till now. Many students get the scholarships in S.S.C.(Secondary School Certificate) J.S.C. (Junior School Certificate) and P.E.C. (Primary Education Completion Exam)

School Hours: KG – 5 (4+yrs to 10 ) 7:45 a.m. – 11:45 noon and secondary high school (11+yrs) 7:45 a.m. – 12:45 noon

Extra-curricular Activities: Many extra-curricular activities take place outside the normal school day. These activities include Scouting, Girls guide, Red Crescent, Yellow Bird, Bishwa Sahitya, drama, music, art, dance, cooking, computers, special interest groups, social events, debate, and many kinds of sports. Annual study tour to other areas of Bangladesh is arranged for the students every year.
