SUNDERBANS - the name derived from the large mangrove tree – SUNDARI (Heritiera fomes) is situated in the extreme south of West Bengal on the fringes of Bay of Bengal (approx- 116 km from Kolkata). Being the world’s largest mangrove forest UNESCO has recognized it as a world heritage site.
